About
An allegorical tale describes young Mary Ventura's train voyage to the mysterious ninth kingdom, on which she is befriended by an enigmatic woman. When Mary Ventura's parents see her aboard the train, they say "It will be an easy trip. Everyone has to leave home sometime." As Mary observes the other passengers, and is befriended by an enigmatic woman, she is certain of only one thing: she does not want to make this trip. -- adapted from perusal of book
