Moving from StoryGraph? Bring the details with you

StoryGraph got a lot right: quarter stars, moods, DNF. Shelfola keeps all of it, and adds chapter-aware spoilers, ratings that show their working and book data any reader can fix.

What changes when you leave StoryGraph

The things readers tell us made them look for a StoryGraph alternative, and what Shelfola does instead.

Starting over means losing detail

Your quarter stars, moods, pace, DNFs, tags and every read date import as they are. Nothing gets rounded.

Wondering whether a score is fair

New accounts and pre-release ratings don’t count, and every book page shows how many ratings came from people who finished it.

Spoilers you can’t tune

Reviewers tag spoilers by chapter, and anything past your current chapter stays hidden until you reach it.

Waiting on someone else to fix book data

Suggest a fix yourself. Reviewed edits go live with a public history, so the catalogue keeps getting better.

Buddy reads apart from your clubs

Buddy reads work on their own or inside a club. Every message is locked to a page, and clubs add checkpoints for each section.

Stats you’d rather keep to yourself

Charts, streaks, taste and year-on-year stats are private by default. Share them on your profile only if you want to.

Shelfola vs StoryGraph

A fair side-by-side. Where we couldn’t confirm something in StoryGraph’s own documentation, we show a dash instead of guessing.

Switching from StoryGraph: questions

Do my quarter-star ratings survive the move?

Yes. Shelfola rates in quarter stars too, so a 3.75 stays a 3.75.

Do moods and pace come across from StoryGraph?

Yes. The moods, pace and plot-or-character answers in your StoryGraph export are kept on each book.

Can I switch editions without losing progress?

Yes. Editions and translations sit under one book, and when you switch to the edition you’re reading your progress carries over by percentage.

How do I export my StoryGraph library?

In StoryGraph, open your profile menu, then Manage account, and under Manage your data choose Export StoryGraph library. Drop that CSV into Shelfola.

Is Shelfola free?

Yes. Shelfola is free to join and has no ads.

Can I undo an import?

Yes. Every import can be undone in one tap. Undo removes the books, reads, ratings, reviews, tags and lists that import added.

Who can see my imported reviews?

You choose before anything is saved: everyone, followers only or only you.
